Teaching

I am a member of the English Faculty at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois as an Adjunct Professor of English. I am honored to teach and I consider it a great responsibility to be able to influence the way young minds view, absorb, and enjoy literature and the written word. I get to bring my love of English literature and writing into the classroom and build connections that are based on this powerful and inspiring art form.

Before completing my master’s, I taught English and Social Science to elementary school students in Cairo, Egypt. This was my first experience living and teaching abroad, and it was a defining one. I learned more than I taught, while absorbing the vastly diverse and compelling history and culture of the country.

I also taught English to middle school students in Bangkok, Thailand. I was able to gain from my students while exploring the rich diversity that exists in this incredible part of the world.
